I'm an East Coast entertainer, and play Acoustic covers of Maritime and Irish classics, but mostly rock, pop, folk, country and traditional songs with a focus on audience interaction, requests, sing along's and fun!
Since my move from PEI to NS in 2011, I've performed at many of the popular pubs and bars around the HRM, in the Valley and on the Eastern and South Shores. I've also contributed to long-term care music therapy programs and am happy to give back to my community.
15 years after playing in bands around PEI & Ontario, I played my first solo acoustic show in the Queen's Suite at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto - January 2001. My music project 'Edward the 3rd', evolved to 'Myers & Mike', and has come full circle with 'Kevin Myers - Acoustic All Request'.
I love the acoustic guitar, and have refined my strumming & playing style since learning to play guitar in my early teens. Be it light 'Paul Simon' fingerstyle, medium 'John Cougar' strumming or a heavy 'Oasis' attack, I enjoy all aspects of this wonderful, social instrument!
I perform using a quick setup / teardown Bose sound system, provide front & back stage lighting, (including a flickering LED Flame!) - and add rich harmonies and looping effects for a fuller sound.
I promote each venue and show by: 1) Facebook posts a week before, and the day of each show. 2) Venue specials & events programmed into a scrolling LED sign that's integrated into my light show. 3) Venue splash screen on my website, the day of each show, directing your customers to 'like' your Facebook group page. (see Venue Promotion / Co-Branding on my homepage)
I tailor my sets on the fly (depending on audience), and encourage requests – I ask my audience to visit kevinmyers.ca to 'request a song’ – shout it out, write it on a napkin, or send it via website chat to the stage!
I'm always expanding my setlists to offer variety, and to ensure no two shows are the same. I also commit every song to memory, allowing me to focus entirely on engaging and connecting with the audience.
For me, live music is more than just playing songs. It's about creating a fun, interactive and inclusive experience where everyone can feel like they're part of the show, or simply sit back and take it all in.
I’m excited to play new venues, make new friends, and share the gift of music!
